Disarmingly honest and brave, Bolelli is the champion of pop philosophy

Daniele Bolelli has carved out an odd place for himself in popular culture: University professor, MMA fighter, homespun philosopher and single-parent father, his disarming honesty and bravery in not just fighting but life itself is an inspiration. "Not Afraid" is by far his most personally revealing book and for the many fans of his podcasts, it's going to be an expected treat. For those new to Bolelli, don't be afraid, listen to him and hear yourself reacting to his incredible insights into how to live a life full of challenges and thrive despite the occasional beat down. Highly recommended!!

I had a hard time putting it down, took me two days to read. Emotionally wrenching at parts, brutally honest and motivates one to face fear in whatever form it takes head on. You will laugh, fight back tears and come away feeling a loss that it is finished.

This is a really great book

This book could not have had more of an impact on me if Prof. Bolelli had thrown it at my head. The hardcover version not the paperback. If you don't read this book, and let it into your soul, YOU have given up on leading anything other than a beige colored life. Please don't be beige. Also, there is an audio version of this that is africkinmazing as the good Prof narrates it himself. Its like listening to a being from another multiverse, in a good way. Buy it from him website, it may just change your life.

Magnificent Whiteness

I must confess I love Richard Meier's work. His structures are so clean and modern, I love the use of glass and light. Honestly, if I where fabulously wealthy he would be the first person I called to build my house, and I would pay him anything. Nobody designs a house like Mr. Meier and this book does a grand job of illustrating that point.. the photographs are first rate and the colors are sharp. The latter is so important when doing a book on his work because the play of light on white is what his buidings are all about. All of his best houses before 97 are covered and they are all given the royal treatment. If you love clean crisp modern design then buy this wonderful book on this master architects work, you won't be disappointed.

Simply More Comprehensive!

People study the III-V Semiconductor have two good choices of reference book. One is written by Jiann S. Yuan with the title:"SiGe, GaAs, InP HBT". One is this book by William Liu. I found both are very up-to-date and detailed. But, Liu's is simply the more comprehensive one. Both talk a great deal about SiGe, GaAs and InP, but Yuan is focus on HBT. In the recent development, InP-based HEMT emerges to supercede HBT in the range from 6 to 10 GHz. You will find that Liu's book is more helpful in that regards.

This is a popular book for introducing III-V semiconductor devices, and I think this will be the best one for beginners. However, the author can't put too much information in this book due to the restriction of volume. Thus, sometimes this book is also not very clear in some details, but this is still a very good book!

This book has a lot of typos and it is quite confusing if some equations are correct or wrong.I would not recommend this book for a graduate course if i were the professor.

Absolutely love it. Great exploration of leadership in the bible. Only downside is the weight on the pages. Does not lend well to highlighting and notes. Its too thin. I know that is to save weight in the book but a little heavier to allow for notes and highlights without bleeding through

FINALLY...an NIV version of his famous Leadership Bible

Finally he published his Leadership bible in NIV. I love the story when John was asked early in his speaking career where he gets his leadership material. He didn't want to tell the attendee b/c he thought he wouldn't believe him. "From the Bible" was his response. I love how all the laws of Leadership are sprinkled throughout for added value. An Excellent Motivational Work

PUSH: Persevere Until Success Happens through Prayer is one of the most motivating and encouraging book I have read on the successful accomplishment of negotiating the journey to success.

Dr Trimm uses the appropriate analogy of the stages of childbirth, the conception and growth of ideas, through the actual birthing process of bringing those ideas to tangible fruition. She illustrates her points with scriptural references and famous quotes throughout the work.

The author discusses the birth of each of us as individuals, physically, spiritually, and intellectually. She provides a helpful chart of “investments” that lead to a well-rounded, healthy human being. She illustrates the many influences that shape our thought processes, the action we take, and how they can either stifle or advance our movement toward success.

She concludes the book with an extensive inspiring and empowering list of positive statements that she refers to as “the creed.”

I especially enjoyed the continuous message conveyed throughout the book that God has certain aspirations for all of us, and through prayer and perseverance, we can achieve the goals we were born to reach Even though I had heard a couple of them before, Dr Trimm's examples of famous people in history who pushed on against all odds were especially interesting and motivating.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who entertains dreams, anyone who longs for accomplishment, anyone who seeks to fulfill God’s will in his or her life. This is definitely a keeper for me and a book that will take its rightful place on my “reference” shelf.

Power in prayer

A deep and personal look at how prayer impacts the different areas in our lives. A clear focus on perseverance and trusting in the hand of God in all things. the author quotes a lot of other sources it was like reading a combination of all my favourite illustrations and poems. Great reference to scripture with a few practical examples to use in our daily prayer life. This book is definitely not a once-off read, and can allows be picked up again and again.

This is the second book that I have read by Dr. Cindy Trimm, “Reclaim Your Soul” being the first. This book – “PUSH” – “Persevere Until Success Happens; Through Prayer” – however, landed in my mailbox at exactly the right time. Some may wonder about the references and quotes from “New Age” philosophers that are throughout her books, I don’t. They are just that… references and quotes. I don’t think that we should shun sound advice because of the messenger. However, that being said… Dr. Trimm balances all of her writings with sound biblical references.

As with her other book, I found this book to be very positive and encouraging for anyone who wonders just if they can achieve anything with their lives. In my opinion, this is a book that will require more than a cursory reading. As I said, it appeared when I needed to hear it most and I am looking forward to a more in-depth study of this book. I look forward to future writings by Dr. Trimm.

Bandu N. Pamadi is a Senior Aerospace Engineer at NASA Langley Research Center, Hampton, Va. He taught for about 15 years at Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay and at the Old Dominion University, Norfolk, Va. He earned his B.S. in mechanical engineering from Karnatak University, M.S. in aeronautical engineering from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, and Ph.D. in aeronautical engineering (aerodynamics) from Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay. He is an associate fellow of AIAA and a fellow of Aeronautical Society of India.

Great book! I use this book practically everyday. If you don't have a copy of the USAF Stability and Control DATCOM, this book is probably the next best thing. He presents the DATCOM techniques for estimating aircraft stability derivatives. One of the most used books in my library!

Pamwe Chete - Selous Scouts of Rhodesia

This is an excellent and comprehensive book on the Selous Scouts - a special forces unit based in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) during the 1970's. The book covers the history of the unit from the time its founder, Ron Reid-Daly, spent in Malaysia with C Squadron 22 SAS, to the end of the war. What is interesting is the high level of racial integration in the unit, and the use of 'turned' guerillas. In some cases captured guerillas were turned, briefed and back in the field within hours of capture.
While the unit's informal approach to standard military discipline made it shunned by the high command the unit had stunning military successes, especially with cross-border raids to target enemy bases.
This book is a must read for anyone interested in the bush wars in Southern Africa in the 70/80's and terrorism in general. Special forces soldiers could learn a lot from this book.

***DECLASSIFIED*** Selous Scouts-Top Secret War

This book should be a mandatory read for Non-commissioned officers and Officers serving in special mission units or special operations the world over. In the counter-insurgency / low-intensity conflict arena there are many valuable lessons to be learned from this text, and for the armchair historian or casual reader the story is still gripping enough to keep you enthralled to the last page. Basically this is story of the birth and death of one of the most feared insurgency units of the time, as told by the founder of this outstanding unit; Ron Reid-Daly. It covers the units training, selection, operations, and personalities of the unit with the war being the tool that propels the story and evolution of the unit. One of the most remarkable aspects of Selous scouts was their employment of pseudo-terrorist techniques, which were used to melt into know terrorist cells, to either eliminate the terrorist themselves or direct other assets to the known cells to be neutralized. While conducting these type operations the Selous Scouts maintained the cover of being a combat tracking (mantracking) unit, as to keep their true purpose under wraps from the rest of the Rhodesian Security Forces. I would also like to point out they were truly all trained tracks and maintained this capability to superb levels of proficiency. This book is a re-release and completely revamped version of "SELOUS SCOUTS - Top Secret War" (original title). If you read the original edition you will enjoy this one much better. Many areas in the book have been rewritten and their many additions and details added to the text. Many of the names of individual have added into this text, originally kept exempt for security and safety reasons. Also there are many new photographs added and the Illustrations are a lot crisper. One of the biggest treats in this edition is the added appendix covering; roll of honor, wing nominal roll, awards and citations. Bottom line is this version truly opens the door to this once `Top Secret" organization of combat trackers turned pseudo-terrorist specialist.
